Default JoePa lobbying Bradley for Pitt job.

Paterno pushes Bradley for Pitt job
    Sunday, January 02, 2011
    By Ron Musselman, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

TAMPA, Fla. -- Penn State coach Joe Paterno said today that Pitt should consider hiring Tom Bradley, his long-time defensive coordinator, as its new head coach.

Bradley, 54, recruits Western Pennsylvania for the Nittany Lions. A native of Johnstown, Pa., he just completed his 32nd season as a member of the coaching staff.

"I think Tommy is a fine coach," Paterno said. "He has good, strong city of Pittsburgh contacts. He's got a brother [Jim] who is an orthopedic surgeon, head surgeon for the Steelers, and the whole bit.

"I think Tommy should be a very, very strong candidate. Tommy has done a good job. He is a good recruiter, a good coach, he's organized. And I think he certainly deserves some consideration."

Bradley expressed interest in the recent opening at Pitt, but he was not interviewed. The Panthers hired Michael Haywood, who was fired Saturday after being charged with domestic abuse in Indiana.

Bradley did recently interview for the head coaching vacancy at Temple. He finished second to former Florida offensive coordinator and associate head coach Steve Addazio.

This makes alot of sense for Pitt, solid coach with good Pitt area contacts. Should also lead to a renewal of Pitt vs PSU football games. These two programs need to be rivals and this coaching choice should make it happen sooner than later or never. Tom Bradley will also bring and teach up great linebackers to Pitt.

I am not so sure about that, I bet the general consensus would be favorable. I was listening to the fan a lot when they hired haywood and people were calling left are right asking why they didn't at least interview Bradly. I think it would be an awesome move for them personally.

Hiring Bradley would make alot of sense and be a good hire.

Which means Pitt will never do it.

As good of a recruiter as he is and The fact that Paterno is recommending him for the job means that Pitt at the very least should interview him. Steve pederson is getting a second chance here and needs to recognize that fact. If he doesn't, then the University needs to start interviewing AD candidates.
