Default Wedding bells for Big Ben?

    Wedding bells for Big Ben?

    Tuesday, January 04, 2011
    By Sally Kalson, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

If Ben Roethlisberger is engaged to be married, he doesn't want to talk about it. But a lot of other people do.

The social media have been all a-Twitter with congratulations for the Steelers quarterback, who purportedly popped the question to a young woman from New Castle over the Christmas holidays.

Asked point blank today if he was engaged, Mr. Roethlisberger declined to answer, except to say he wouldn't talk about his private life.

The young woman is being named on blogs and Tweets, but Post-Gazette attempts to reach her have not yet succeeded.

Information developed by the newspaper shows her as a graduate of Laurel High School, where she was a softball star, and a 2008 graduate of St. Francis University in Loretto, Cambria County, with a bachelor's degree in health science, and, a year later, a master's of physicians assistant.

    Sally Kalson: skalson@post-gazette.com or 412-263-1610.

Normally I would agree but Big Ben needs a boss more than most and we need some Little bens to secure a Super Bowl bid in 2035.

**** that was quick. Engaged in under a year to some phantom woman that TMZ couldn't even pick up as existing

For Ben's sake and the steelers sake I hope it's true. It's been long overdue. Ben's need stability in his personal life and a wife and family is what will give it to him. Granted it might not last, who knows but the thinking anyways is that Ben's needed to settle down and be more like a guy a couple years away from 30 than one pretending to be 19

I heard he met her a couple of years ago in a bathroom in Reno.

Sorry, as a long time married man (over 40 years), it's way too soon for him to marry and way too close to his "Georgia experience."

Yes, he should marry, if he finds the "right woman," but don't let that be a decision pushed on him by exogenous events, the media, and the fans.

A story like this will surely take the focus off playoff preparation for the media. Maybe a good thing?

No question that it is a little too convenient. I think people would have just been happy if he was going steady with someone! Of Course Marriage is the new Serious Relationship. And knowing Ben there will be a messy divorce in the not too distant future If they even make it to the altar
