Default Anyone into "high school" football?

Now that we are into the playoff season, I'm attending a few games.... In the past, I've followed the schools in WPIAL such as Washington, McGuffey, and McKeesport.

... But living over here in Kentucky, I've seen alot of different football... Elder, Moeller, Highlands...

My fiance's nephew is a senior for Simon-Kenton (Independence, Ky), which starts their playoff run tonight at 7pm against Butler... It really shouldn't be much of a game... SK is 9-1 and has scored more than 38 points in 6 of their games this season... Butler is on a 4-game losing skid and hasn't scored 14 points in a game 5 times this season.... If SK wins tonight, they have one more home game next week, then will probably face the vaunted St. X down in Louisville the following week.

Most of the time I really don't care about high school football, but I do follow it during the playoffs... Not to mention that I HAVE NO CHOICE with future family members playing tonight....

.... Just wondering if anyone else follows it in their area....

Great marching band bill... if it wasn't for band parents, supportive music department's instumentalists there wouldn't be too many spectators at High School football games....

Most High Schools have many other athletic events going today, with the expansion of interests.... that perhaps, is why attendance is down at HS football games. Unless of course, you have a son in the program.

My local HS team had two sectional State Championships ... and had a fairly good attendance at their respective finals only... but, it depends on the school and where their athletic dominant expertise are....

Interests are changing... or broadening .... it depends on school district...

... I dated a gal in the Laurel Highlands band back in '82...

Agreed on the expansion and diversification of high school activities... My sister was in the marching band and I played bass guitar in the jazz band while my dad was the president of the band boosters... Even though I was on the field on Friday nights in pads, I saw an awful lot of what went into their effort, and it is a big commitment to the program.

.... BTW, Simon-Kenton beat Butler 49-7 last night, and my fiance's nephew played a great game!...
