Kipper, you should invest in one of those lights. If it works, you can tell the rest of us!

Some people are really affected by lack of sunlight = often considered the cause of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), which is a real thing. Something I've noticed myself with a mild case of since moving to Chicago - less light up here in winter than in L.A. Ms. Cocktailsfor2 is affected by it as well.

Here is one brand, Verilux. You can get similar ones cheaper, for sure, that are just as good - this is just a f'rinstance...
    http://www.verilux.com/full-spectrum-lamps/floor-lamps

    From their website:
Exposure to the properties of natural daylight is vital to our state of well being. Scientific studies have shown that underexposure to natural daylight can result in sleeplessness, the winter blues, fatigue, increased appetite and diminished sex drive. Verilux Natural Spectrum® light provides access to supplemental lighting to help address the winter blues and other issues related to reduced light exposure
    Here's another: http://www.sadlights.org/
    And from their site:
A person suffering from SAD show symptoms like fatigue, insomnia, depression, cravings of high carbohydrate food, weight gain and mood swings.
    wiki link here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seasona...ctive_disorder
In the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV), SAD is not a unique mood disorder, but is "a specifier of major depression".

Have not yet. thinking of trying melatonin first, but the missus would probably do well with the light.
