Seems to me the Twins are a model small market team....a team the Pirates should model themselves after. They don't make many mistakes and don't throw that kind of money at just any bum.

Jose Bautista filed for $10.5 million in arbitration. The team's figure was $7.6. That could be an interesting one to watch.

I understand....however, who gives a **** about the Twins and their thought process? You may like Redheads and I like Asian chicks. The Twins may like Capps and the Bucs didn't...whatever.
At the end of the day...he is Matt Capps. Not elite. Not worth that kind of money.

**** this. Yet another reason why baseball is screwed up. We are talking about Jose Bautista. Seriously. If anybody thinks he will continue with his new found success and be a building block for the Blue Jays....please shoot yourself now.

Forget Capps.....BUT...to be honest, wouldn't the BBUUCCCOOSSS be SMART to pay $10.5 Mil for a guy who hit over 50 homers last year and led all of MLB?????????

If you guys all say NO, then I am not sure what the purpose of baseball in Pittsburgh is anymore.........I guess I should be happy with the two scrubs they signed in this offseason, Diaz and Overbay for about half that much and we can all accept mediocrity again..........Its too much money for this cheap *** organization you will say.....keep rebuilding for the future....keep the payroll at $32 Mil....its the "best thing to do at this juncture"....!!!!???????

I'd pay 10.5 mill for Willie Stargell in a heartbeat in today's market! But Jose Bautista?? No way in hell am I inclined to pay him that amount. I've become a pure pessimist about today's ball player. This is a guy who one year ago was among the players being discussed about being non tendered. Personally I think he's on steroids. Of course I don't have any proof, but until this type of year becomes the norm, I'll continue to think so. I'd rather give McCutchen 10.5 mill than Bautista. Just sayin'!

Jose Bautista went from 13 homers to 54 in one season while his batting average and everything else stayed exactly the same.

We could pump Lyle overbay with steroids like Bautista pumped himself and get that

If we advocated using steroids and cheating that is

Key word is "many" but they do make mistakes. Capps will never earn that rub IMO

They can have "Gas Can" Capps! I couldn't wait to get rid of him and I won't complain after the fact. We signed Dotel as a result and flipped him for 1/5 of our rotation and a future outfielder. I can live with that.
