    Default Malkin injured.

Malkin injured, to miss next Penguins game, maybe more
    Wednesday, January 19, 2011
    By Shelly Anderson, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Penguins All-Star forward Evgeni Malkin has what is believed to be a leg injury and will miss Thursday's game at New Jersey -- and perhaps be out longer.

Malkin played in Tuesday's 4-1 win over Detroit but did not practice today at Consol Energy Center.

Malkin, a former NHL scoring champion and playoff MVP, has 15 goals, 37 points in 42 games. He has been dealing with a left knee injury off and on this season, and coach Dan Bylsma referred to a time Saturday in a win at Boston when Malkin landed on the ice with his legs splayed awkwardly.

Bylsma said the length of time Malkin will be out depends on the completion of medical evaluations. Malkin was voted in as an All-Star for the Jan. 30 game at Carolina.

A lot of people wanted to see what Staal can do when hes the "go to" guy. Wish granted. This should be interesting.
ďItís a game of emotion, itís a game of hard work.
Itís a game of passion, Kovalchuk, what he did the other day Ė thereís not one guy who was close to doing something. Maybe Maxime Talbot at the end with one second left. Hes about 5ft8 pfft"

Who are all these people? He has been playing good but will probably get shut down as a top center. This is good team building stuff tho. I am sure they will be alright and I doubt they will be starless for long.

I wonder what the severity of Malkin's injury has been. They say on and off which to me sounds like they are hiding something.

As long as we get him back for March, i'll be happy.

hopefully we get Sid back ASAP.

No doubt there has been a lot of that but I am not sure anyone wants him for #1 center but that is what you would get if Malkin was gone and Sid took a night off. I just want the kid to play good. How can you trade him now when his value is down?

Im certainly not saying we should trade the guy, but a lot of fans, including myself, are really starting to worry about this guy.

Let's get some youngsters some playing time now and get Geno and Sid ready for the stretch run!

I wanna see good play as well. You can't make that trade I agree and if there's an injury in play combined with the kid playing with a bunch of 3rd liners going through a revolving door... strange as it seems, but it makes me feel better

I'm slightly worried but I think there's some chemistry and continuity issues that are holding back production. I just look at the Defense early on. They looked terrible but there were issues and a lack of chemistry and continuity.

Probably. Will that complete the "Baby Pens" line?

    Perhaps.

I'm going to guess the following ..

    Kunitz - Staal - Dupuis
    Conner - Talbot - Jeffrey
    Cooke - Letestu - Kennedy
    Rupp - Adams - Asham

Could switch those middle 2 lines

Come on fellows, what's with this trade Malkin BS. This team needs him. Granted, since Staal has come back he has been a force, and he has boosted an already solid penality killing squad. But, trading Malkin? Come on. That's crazy talk. You guys need to find something else to do if thats what you are starting to think. Malkin might not be having the best of his years, but he's got many more ahead.
