Default Chris Kemoeatu rules out Maurkice Pouncey

Not sure how much value to put on this but.....you would think that it would have come from someone else....like Pouncey???....or Tomlin????

Chris Kemoeatu rules out Maurkice Pouncey
    The National Football Post

Pittsburgh Steelers rookie Pro Bowl center Maurkice Pouncey won't be able to play in the Super Bowl against the Green Bay Packers due to a left high-ankle sprain, Steelers guard Chris Keomeatu declared today.

“We are definitely sad that he won’t be able to be with us in the Super Bowl,” Kemoeatu told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “Definitely I feel bad for him. We just have to win it for him. .. We know how big this is for him and him not being able to play is definitely motivating for us to go out there and get that ring for him."

Pouncey got hurt against the New York Jets and is on crutches with his ankle in a cast.

With Pouncey sidelined, Doug Legursky will get the starting nod.

i just saw this on the news. It definitely runs counter to what Pouncey has said. All we heard was that he put into a cast. Dale Lolley made mention of the move from one cast to another and seemed pessimistic about Pouncey playing ...

I don't know. I hope this is conclusion jumping right now and a mix up. Perhaps they are ****ing with the Packers

    I hope I'm right too

Without Pouncey, this just might be the saddest OL to ever play in a Superbowl as far as experience, accolades, talent etc...

What if it's true, who wears all the hats as a backup now ? I guess the most important hat would be, who is the backup center ?
If it is true or there is wishful waiting on Pouncey recovering, do they bring someone in to practice with the team anyway ?
I also wonder if our field turf is part the blame for the injury ?
I wonder how long they wait until they decide if needed, Pouncey goes on IR ?

I seem to recall Pouncey getting dinged up from one play to the next at times every so often this season. This injury is obviously worse so, it makes me wonder if this will be a problem for Pouncey, getting hurt often through his career ?

Hopefully it's just talk. I'll believe it when I hear Tomlin say it. I was reading an article on my phone tonight and the idiot who wrote it started the article like, OMG Pouncey missed practice - duh, then he said Defensive End Chris Kemoeatu (seriously). I don't remember who it was, but he was a contributor to ESPN. Wow.

It may also be that there has been nothing to report on these first couple days so they are grabbing anything to write about. It wouldn't surprise me if Kemoeatu said, it'd be ashame if Pouncey dosn't play. I think I'm going to spend the next couple days just watching movies and getting rested up for next week, when the team gets down to Dallas.

Bottom line... Pouncey is a competitor... He wants to play... He is on crutches and has a hard cast on his ankle... He may want to play, but may likely not be able to play regardless of his own personal wishes... So be it, and that's the way it goes... Legursky better play his *** off...

Isn't there a gag order for the players and for everyone other than Tomlin about stuff like this ?

I would think either it is all rumor or Kemo spole out of turn.

I just went on to the CBS rapid report for information on the Steelers. Its reporting the same thing we heard. Nothing really official from the Steelers front office. It did mention that Essex would be Legurskys backup.
It also mentioned that Legursky has a big disadvantage against the Packs nose tackle.

the bigger disadvantage may be if Legursky can learn protection assignments fast enough.

That goes without saying... Raji is a serious threat and Legursky isn't the strongest at the position. That is why he is Pouncey's backup... Raji has had a good playoff run so there will have to be different schemes to keep him away from Ben, and I'm sure that our coaches are addressing this issue (at least I hope so)... But it is gonna be one of the key matchups IMO.

It's possible Kemo doesn't realize the Super Bowl isn't until next Sunday.

He's not the sharpest tool in the shed.

You really have to credit O.L. line coach Sean Kugler. He got this patch work group to play at an acceptable level.
