    Default It hurts

To come so far and so close, and come up short. I was only 3 when the Steelers lost superbowl 30. Ive never experienced anything this heart wrenching in my sports fandom. (the pens losing the cup final isnt as close) It was sad to see this team, who overcame so much to come up short. Lets go get em next time i guess. Pittsburgh FTW forever and ever

We're all in it together here. Let's look toward to next years hope of getting #7 and that this loss leads to the right changes.

Yea this hurts. Always does when you know that you could have won this game, but just knowing that we almost always will be in the hunt is maybe more gratifying. Imagine being a Browns fan or a Lions fan for example. This is a class organization and I'm proud to cheer for them.

You never completely get over these. It still hurts when I think about the 1992 NLCS against the Braves. Of course, I think that one hurts the most because of what has happened to the Pirates orgazination since then. 18 very long years of losing and counting with them. At least with the Steelers and Pens, we have great organizations that can compete almost every year. Growing up in the 80s, I've probably had to deal with more disappointments than anything. All 3 of our pro teams sucked, for the most part, in the 80s. That was worse to deal with than at least having a good team that can play for a championship, even if they lose it.

In sports, only one team walks away happy , in the end.

This year, it was not our team.......................I think they still play with the best of them next year!

I'll never fully get over SB XXX or this one and I can never see a reason to ever watch them or want to. I would rather the Steelers not make the Super Bowl than to go and lose. All second place means, is that you're the first loser. I am hoping that losing this game leads to the appropriate changes in personel and a more focused and determined Ben.

I don't think this loss compares

    1. It wasn't Dallas
    2. It hadn't been 16 years since the last SB win.
    3. We know in 1995 that Free Agency was going to destroy the core of the team. (Which it did)

This one is worse. I fully expected to win this game. Quite honestly I didn't expect to beat the Cowboys in 95.

I don't see where you are coming from. I thought it was evenly matched and the Steelers would have won easily IF they played a clean game and they never do. We are spoiled by the wins in the last 6 years and that really softens the blow for me. I am over this and looking forward to the rest of the Pens season and draft time and all that. GO STEELERS.

    Well open your eyes.

To say it another way my expectations were completely different in 95 than they were Sunday. Sunday I fully expected to win but in 95 I didn't feel we had much of a chance. To me it hurts more when you expect to win and don't.

In 1995, I believe we were 14 point underdogs going into that one against a team that had already won two Super Bowls before that. We should have actually won that game despite all of that. This one, WE were the team with the experience and somehow came out and played like it was OUR first Super Bowl with all of the mistakes. Yeah, this one hurts the most for me too. If we would have lost playing our best, it would be easier to accept. Coming out and playing like we did with the mistakes and turnovers, handing them a pick 6, and setting up two of their other TDs with turnovers, just makes this tougher to accept. Play a mistake free game and I think we win. But, we didn't and you can't play like that in a Super Bowl and expect to win. We still almost did despite the mistakes.

Let me rephrase that, I see where you are coming from. I'm just not coming from the same place. I gave us a 50/50 chance of winning this and it came down to 3 points so it was indeed close. It just went the other way. I was fully prepared this round for losing honestly. I had confidence we could win this one but not confident that we would tbh. But I would have still been heartbroken if it weren't for the previous two. That's the difference for me. Also talk a out how it was close. It actually wasn't as close as the score IMO. We weren't 10 toes in at all at any point in this game. We were in it but we never got the momentum going for long. If it was the last Super Bowl and Tone would have got his heal over the line I'd still be mother ****ing everyone. I dunno. Disappointing no question but for me 95 was worse.
